About the position  

The Angelini Ventures team is looking for an ambitious and motivated investment professional with deep scientific experience and a strong entrepreneurial spirit to join the Life Sciences investment team in Europe. This role provides a unique opportunity to become part of the vibrant life sciences venture capital community and has long-term potential for advancement within the fund.   

You will assist with the sourcing and evaluation of potential investment opportunities, technical and commercial due diligence on investment targets, as well as deal execution and project management. We want you to work closely with the entire investment team and support it on all aspects of both the investment process and portfolio management. You will also collaborate with our scientific and economic advisors and engage with the broader life science community to provide valuable input to investee and portfolio companies. 

We expect you to operate in an entrepreneurial environment and exhibit independence and leadership capabilities. The position requires strong communication skills, and the successful candidate will frequently interact with our external stakeholders in the life sciences and venture capital industry, as well as our board and parent company leadership. The role reports to a Managing Director based in Munich. The ideal candidate will be based in Europe or the UK. The role is remote but will require the candidate to travel to our Rome headquarters and to global industry events. 

Responsibilities  

• Deal Flow: Review and evaluate investment opportunities.  

• Investments: Support the investment process from origination to execution; provide ongoing investment monitoring.  Lead scientific and commercial due diligence in partnership with the investment team as well as outside experts. Prepare and maintain the internal investment documentation on potential investments and portfolio companies, including investment case presentations, financial analyses, and reporting. 

• Strong emphasis will be given to candidates who, in addition to strong science/medical background, have a solid economic understanding and can build financial models for investments/divestments and commercial models for product candidates. 

• Research: Undertake guided and independent research to understand markets, industry sectors, products, platforms, business models, risk factors,and competitive opportunities. 

• Community Outreach: Establish and build relationships with key players in our industry from academia to pharma, attend industry events.  

• Program Support: Provide support in the execution of new programs and business development strategies.  

Qualifications  

• PhD /MD in life sciences or medicine required 

• 3+ years of total work experience in investment banking, management consulting, pharma BD, venture capital, and/or scaling startups required 

• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, prospects and industry contacts.  

• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.  

• Excellent communication skills. 

• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.  

• A passion for early-stage venture capital, startups, and entrepreneurship with a good understanding of emerging trends in the healthcare space.
